Question 1

How does scanning work?

Accepted Answer

The AI-assisted tools in WhatsMyCoin analyze supported coin photos or extract transaction details from supported documents, spreadsheets, and receipt images. Available features vary. Always review generated identifications, values, and extracted details. To preserve your privacy, personal details detected in documents, such as names, addresses, and phone numbers, are excluded from extraction.

Question 2

Is my data secure?

Accepted Answer

We use encryption for data storage and transmission. You may be able to use an anonymous username, opt out of storing uploaded files where that option is available, and delete your account and associated data at any time.

Question 3

What coins and metals do you support?

Accepted Answer

WhatsMyCoin supports features involving common coins and precious metals, including gold, silver, platinum, palladium, copper, and nickel. Support for particular coin types, forms, identification details, and portfolio tools varies. Any estimated value or metal-content result is informational and is not a professional appraisal or authentication.

Question 4

How are prices and estimated values determined?

Accepted Answer

Where the Service displays market prices, they are refreshed regularly using third-party market data. Identification results, spot prices, and estimated values are informational, may be delayed or inaccurate, and do not include every factor that can affect a coin's market or collector value.

Question 5

Where can I access WhatsMyCoin?

Accepted Answer

You can access WhatsMyCoin on this website and through official WhatsMyCoin mobile apps where available. Platform availability, features, and sign-in methods may vary.

Question 6

How do I organize scans, coins, or portfolio records?

Accepted Answer

Use the organization features available in the Service. Where tags and portfolio tools are offered, tags can group records into separate filtered collections or stacks. Available organization and analytics features vary by service and platform.

Question 7

Why does my iPhone photo upload as an HEIC with a random name?

Accepted Answer

iPhones use HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) as the default photo format. WhatsMyCoin supports HEIC where photo upload is available, but a generic filename may be assigned. To preserve a filename of your choice, convert the photo to JPEG before uploading: Easiest way to convert to JPEG on a Mac In Finder, right-click your photo. Choose Quick Actions → Convert Image. Select JPEG and your preferred size. Rename the new file before uploading — your name will stay intact. Easiest way to convert to JPEG on your iPhone Open the Photos app and select your picture. Tap the Share button → Save to Files. Open the Files app, find the photo, then tap and hold it. Tap Quick Actions → Convert Image → JPEG. Rename it if desired, then upload — WhatsMyCoin will keep your filename where filename preservation is supported. NOTE: Safari has a known bug that converts images into HEIC when uploading to certain websites. If your image is a JPEG or PNG but still uploads as an HEIC (thus losing a filename you'd like to preserve), please switch to a different browser.
